What is Saroop’s Threading?
Saroop’s Threading is a small business located in Connecticut. One of the main services of this beauty salon is eyebrow threading. I have been working at this beauty salon since 2021 and have seen how social media and technology expands the business to more people. It got me thinking on what if an app was created to further help the salon?
Problem
While there are many small businesses in Connecticut that have mobile apps, this is not common with beauty salons in the state. Many salons don’t have or lack a modern representation of what they do.
As times are changing, beauty salons can thrive more if there was an advantage of an app designed. But not too many salon owners are aware of what the outcome would be if this were to happen.
Goal
To create an app that not only benefits local beauty salons, but also a way for it to benefit the customers as well. I want to market more small business beauty salons digitally through apps.

Creating an account
This app is designed to be suitable for all kinds of ages, as the beauty salon is open to both the young and the elderly. Therefore, the set-up of each page is minimal and features a subtle aesthetic.
If someone wanted to use the app without creating an account, that person won’t be eligible to gain points from the scanner.
The use of a scanner
Once a customer logs in, they are immediately shown this page of a scanner.
The idea of adding a scanner is so that each time the customer comes for any service, they get 5 points. The total number of points would mean different specials.
In other words, the main special the app endorses is once you get 50 points, the customer can get a free eyebrow threading.
Main Page and Booking Appointments
The main page shows how the customer can view the number of points they have, any upcoming appointments, and see what promotions are available through the promotions button.
The focus of the main page is a Calander. Customers will be able to choose when they want to make an appointment on the business days of Tue-Sat.
From here, the app will be able to calculate whether that day is open or not, and the customer will then get to choose which time they can come in that day by using the arrows of the clock to navigate the time and set it.
The customer also would choose which service or promotion they want to get done.
This is how the screen will look like to confirm that the appointment is set.
Promotions
The inclusion of a promotions page is what special services customers can get from the salon.
As mentioned, certain points would mean different specials a customer can get. Here, customers can see what kinds of promotions the salon offers and see if they have enough points to get one.
For a promotion, the points would be higher than usual. Such as the purple wax that is upcoming, requires at least 120 points. If a customer has the number of points required for a promotion, they can get a discount on that promotion if it’s eligible.
My Account/Settings
The final page of the app is the “my account” page where a customer can change their settings.
From here, a customer can navigate how many total points they have and whether or not they want to cancel an appointment.

Conclusion
If this app were to be made, it can bring in more customers and benefit the salon more. The app’s special feature of a scanner to gain points and the minimal design of the buttons as well as the colors make it easy to use and accessible to people of all ages.
If more beauty salons in Connecticut look into building a special and unique app for their small business, it can reach a wider audience with today’s changing times in technology and social media.
This app is designed to suit all kinds of cellular devices: iPhone, Android, Samsung, etc.
