When I looked back at the color palette and logo of the Saroop’s Threading app, I saw that there was no variety with the colors being used, and it made the app visually look uninteresting. I wanted to change that as well as create a new logo that matched with the new color palette.
Skills: UI Design
Programs used: Figma, Coolors.co
Timeline: a week and a half

Overview
I will be sharing 2 examples for the new color palette as well as explaining the new logo. After, I will share a link of the app’s layout from the 5 new colors. These two significant changes help the user see and easily navigate the app compared to all the pink/magenta from before, it also looks much more visually appealing.
Instead of colors like light pink, magenta, and gray, colors that were already a part of the small business, I chose colors that gave off a vibrant and earthy vibe using the site Coolors.co.
When I saw this palette of tea green, lime cream, pale amber, camel, and pearl aqua, I felt like this made the app look more visually balanced and easier to navigate. The screen looked more easier on the eyes and balanced compared to the fusion of pink from before.
Moreover, the previous logo of Saroop’s Threading kept coming up pixelated when I added it on Figma. When I did a simple search of looking up “eyebrow threading” on the Internet, I came across the free image seen from above from Shutterstock.
That image does not look pixelated and works well with the new color palette. It also is minimal and matches the aesthetic of the business.

Comparisons – Scanner
The Scanner is an important component of the app, as this is the page where users can gain points to get special services. Here is a comparison of what it looked like before to the update:

This page has the intention of wanting to motivate and encourage the user to use this feature in getting points. The number of points a user has means special benefits when coming to the salon.
As mentioned previously on the intention of this page, when a customer gets a certain number of points, they are able to use their points for different specials. The main one being 50 points is free eyebrow threading, and each service is 5 points each.
The previous colors don’t create an intent of motivation for the user. I am amazed at myself that I chose gray for the circle on how many points a person has. Grey is simple and neutral and doesn’t bring a feeling of energy and motivation.
When I changed it to lime cream, it instantly gets the users attention as to how many points they are getting from visiting the salon. It signifies attention, optimism, and an encouragement to keep building their score to see what special can be offered to them.
Comparisons – Main Page
Here is a comparison of how the Main Page of the app looks from the old color palette to the updated one:

As seen from the two pages, with the old color palette there is not much variety happening from the main page. The user may have to strain their eyes to find features that are important like the “promotions” button and “scan” button to get points.
Users rely on colors to understand where they are on a page, with the new color palette specifically using pearl aqua for the essential buttons on the main page, users are able to get a sense of what they want to do before visiting the salon. I purposely left “my account” button as lime cream to create some contrast.
New Logo
When I looked back at the logo for “Saroop’s Threading” the image was consistently looking pixelated. It came across as not professional to me and was a hindrance with the overall design/colors of the app.
The new logo that I found from a simple search on the Internet works better with the overall colors and design of the business as seen below:

Since I chose a whole new color palette for the business, I had to find a new logo that matched the colors and new aesthetic.
This logo is clean, minimal, and carries an indigo blue shade that contrasts well from all the other colors used. Because the logo is presented with a shade that is different from the rest and doesn’t come across pixelated as the previous logo, it instantly comes across as more professional and eye catching.
This is a free image that came from search on the Internet and is by Shutterstock. As soon as I saw it, I felt like it perfectly matched the aesthetic and personalization of the app with the new color palette.

Conclusion & Layout
I have placed a link below that shows the entire layout of the app with the new colors and logo:
As I looked back on what I created 2 years ago, I came back with a better understanding of what works better for users. I realized how much of a difference colors can make when they blend well with each other, and how small factors like a pixelated logo, can diminish how the rest of the design looks like.
With the sharp new logo and the refined layout of earthy vintage colors, the Saroop’s Threading app can be highly favorable and easy to use for users.
There is a cleaner finish, words are easier to see, and important features of the app like the “promotion” button, “scanner,” and choosing a “time” is highlighted easily and motivates the user.
